Depuis que je suis en France je m’aperçois de quelque chose. Tout le monde peut reconnaître un accent étrange. C'est assez évident. Mais, de plus, presque tout le monde veut que celui avec l'accent étrange sache bien qu'ils savent parler anglais. :) C'est intéressant aussi, parce que assez souvent, il y a des gens qui parle anglais automatiquement avec ma collègue qui est, en fait, Slovaque! Ahh les Français! Nous vous aimons beaucoup!
Mais, au même temps, je me demande dans quelle mesure je fais la même chose pour ceux qui ont des accents différent ici. Je me rappelle d'au moins un instant où je pensais qu'un homme était mexicain et il était roumain. Heureusement, je ne parle pas espagnol, donc je ne me suis pas fait folle!
Je suppose que les américains seront américains aussi. ET je serai moi. :)
The French will be French
ReplyDeleteSince I got to Paris I have noticed something. Everybody can recognize a foreign accent. It's actually quite easy. But, what's more, almost everybody wants the person with the foreign accent to know that they know how to speak English. :) It's interesting because, often enough, there are people who speak in English automatically with my colleague who is, in fact, Slovak. Ahh the French! We love you a lot!
But, at the same time, I ask myself to what extent do I do the same thing for those with a different accent back home. I remember at least one instant where I though that a man was Mexican but he was Romanian. Luckily, I don't speak Spanish so I didn't make a fool out of myself!
I suppose that Americans will be Americans as well. And I will be me. :)
